The all-new Dodge Challenger is a modern interpretation of a classic American muscle coupe, engineered by Street and Racing Technology (SRT), a performance organization owned by Chrysler.
The Challenger is powered by a 6.1-liter HEMI V8 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift control. The engine whips up 425 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Echoing the original Challenger is this Challenger's dual "carbon-fiber" hood stripes. Air conditioning, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, cruise control, and electronic stability control come standard. Optional equipment includes navigation radio, sunroof, and performance tires. Additional powertrains are forecasted but not yet offered.
The Dodge Challenger is new for 2008. Limited edition models, which will be distributed first, are marked with a numbered dash plaque.
